A northern Mississippi school district decided Wednesday not to host a high school prom after a lesbian student demanded she be able to attend with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi had given the district until Wednesday to change that policy and allow 18-year-old Constance McMillen to escort her girlfriend, who is also a student, to the dance on April 2.

Instead, the school board met and issued a statement announcing it wouldn’t host the event at Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, “due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events.”

The statement didn’t mention McMillen or the ACLU. When asked by The Associated Press if McMillen’s demand led to the cancellation, school board attorney Michele Floyd said she could only reference the statement.

His school career was undistinguished and he failed two high school grades[2] as well as several subjects in his final secondary school examination. His highest mark attained at school was reported as a “C” for second language English and his lowest marks were published as an “H” (sub 25%) in maths and a “G” (sub 20%) in woodwork, all in the standard grade.[5][6] He said he won R1000 in a high school debating competition.[7] He eventually finished high school at age 21.[5]

Malema was elected as both chairman of the Youth League branch in Seshego and the regional chairman in 1995. In 1997 he became the chairman of the Congress of South African Students (Cosas) for the Limpopo province, and was elected as the national president of that organisation in 2001.[8]

Malema was elected as the president of the ANC Youth League in April 2008, in a close race at a national conference held in Bloemfontein.[9] The election – and the conference – were characterised by what Malema himself later described as “unbecoming conduct”.[10] Allegations of irregularities in the polling procedure saw the conference adjourned shortly after the election results were announced.[11] It was resumed only in late June, when Malema’s election was officially accepted.[12]

He said he will go to parliament only when he is “a shiny polished diamond.”[13]

Do Liberals, Atheists Have Higher IQs?

People who consider themselves liberals or atheists tend to have higher IQs than those who are more religious or conservative, a new study suggests.

Higher IQs also seem to make men less likely to cheat. Men with higher IQs place a higher value on sexual fidelity than men with lower IQs, although the same association with intelligence and monogamy was not found in women, according to the study.

The reasons underlying the differences can be explained by evolution, contends study author Satoshi Kanazawa, an evolutionary psychologist at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

In evolutionary terms, religion stems from humans’ tendency to try to make sense of natural phenomenon. “Humans are evolutionarily designed to be paranoid, and they believe in God because they are paranoid,” Kanazawa said. “This innate bias toward paranoia served humans well when self-preservation and protection of their families and clans depended on extreme vigilance to all potential dangers.”

Woman gives birth three hours after finding she was pregnant

In fact she was pregnant with a healthy baby girl who arrived a month ago.

 
Miss Waite was staying with her partner Wyane Boyles, 28, when she unexpectedly went into labour.

Their baby daughter Louise Boyles was born at home weighing 8lb 14oz by Wayne’s mum Syliva.

Miss Waite said:”It was obviously a hugh shock for us all but you have to get on with these things and we are really enjoying it.”

She said she had not felt well for some months before the surprise birth.

“I did feel like something was moving inside me as the months went on. But I never considered I was pregnant and it doesn’t seem to have crossed the doctors’ minds.”

Miss Waite went to her local hospital in Tiverton and doctors said it was likely to be IBS.

On Christmas Day she was taken to hospital again after her hands and feet swelled up and doctors assured her she was suffering from gout or an allergy.

On February 6th – the night before Louise was born – Miss Waite again went to hospital with pains throughout her body.

At 10pm doctors confirmed she was three months pregnant – in fact she was nine months pregnant – and Louise arrived four and a half hours later at 2.30am.
